Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you offer in Edmonton?

We pour and finish exterior flatwork such as concrete driveways, patios, and walkways in stamped, exposed aggregate, and broom finishes. We install interior and structural slabs including garage slabs, basement slabs, residential pads, and commercial or shop slabs. We build concrete retaining walls, provide extruded concrete curbing, and handle concrete cutting for window openings, side-door entrances, slab cuts, and trench cuts. We also complete demolition and removal, concrete lifting, repair, concrete sealing, and floor coatings such as garage epoxy and commercial epoxy.

How do I get a free quote?

Call, text, or email us and tell us about your project in Argyll or anywhere in Edmonton. We provide free written quotes that are valid for 30 days. We can visit the site to review access and scope. We keep the process simple and confirm details by call, text, or email.

Do you handle emergency or same-day requests?

Yes. We prioritise urgent work and promise a site visit within 24 hours. We still provide a written quote before work begins and keep you updated by call, text, or email.

What are your working hours?

We work Monday to Saturday from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm. During peak season we can work Sundays if needed. We also offer after-hours service when required. There is no surcharge for Sundays in peak season or after-hours work.

What affects the cost of a concrete driveway, patio, or slab?

Pricing depends on base preparation, finish type, site access, and what the slab will be used for. A new concrete driveway in Edmonton, for example, may be priced differently than a backyard patio or a commercial shop slab because the base depth, reinforcement, and finishes vary by use. We explain these factors in your written quote so you can compare options like broom finish, exposed aggregate, or stamped concrete.

Do you require a deposit, and how do I pay?

We do not require a deposit before work begins. The balance is due after completion of the job at substantial completion. We accept e-transfer, cash, cheque, and bank draft. On overdue balances we apply 1.5% per month interest (19.56% effective annual rate) after 7 days, or the maximum permitted by law, whichever is lower.

What warranty do you provide?

We provide a 1-year workmanship warranty for cracks wider than a quarter inch on new pours, and we will repair and fill those cracks. Hairline cracks are not covered. We do not publish a separate repair warranty, and we do not add any other exclusions beyond what is stated here.

Do you take care of permits and drawings?

Yes. We handle engineering drawings and permits for concrete work on request and obtain permits when required for driveway approaches and curb cuts. We do not publish approval timelines. We coordinate by call, text, or email so you always know what is needed.

How long does a residential concrete driveway take in Edmonton?

From excavation to pour can be done in 1 day if the weather is good, and then no vehicle traffic for at least 2 weeks, weather dependent. We set expectations up front so your schedule and access are clear.

What is included in your quotes?

Our quotes include forming, rebar, standard control joints, and basic cleanup. Landscaping, sod, and irrigation repairs are by agreement if you want them added. We state any travel fees that apply beyond 50 km from 7135 Argyll Road NW and keep all inclusions transparent in writing with 30-day validity.

Do you repair or lift existing concrete?

Yes. We offer common concrete repairs including crack routing and sealing, spall patching, heave or settlement fixes, and partial slab replacement. We also offer concrete lifting. Matching colour and texture on repairs depends on the existing surface and conditions, so we set expectations that exact matches are not always possible.

What decorative finishes can I choose?

For stamped concrete we offer Ashlar Slate, Fieldstone, Brick, and Cottage Slate patterns. We use integral colour from the batching plant and apply antiquing release for depth and contrast; dry-shake colour hardener is available on request. For exposed aggregate we offer grey and brown exposed finishes with 10 mm and 14 mm aggregate using a surface retarder, and the sealed surface has a shiny look that is less slippery; an anti-slip additive is available on request. For broom finish sidewalks and similar areas we use a medium broom texture with finished edges. We follow our sealing policy for each finish, including EX25 medium gloss on stamped concrete.

What specs do you use for residential driveways?

We install 10 mm rebar on a 19-inch grid with joints about every 8 feet. Residential slabs have a 4-inch minimum thickness with a base of compacted 20 mm road crush at 4 inches thick. We set a 1% slope away from structures and we do not allow heavy truck parking on residential driveways. Mix strength is 32 MPa for residential driveways and air entrainment for broom-finished flatwork is 5–8%.

How do you handle sidewalks and narrow side yards?

Sidewalks are 4 to 5 inches thick with joints every 5 feet. We can work in narrow side yards by hand and with a mini skid steer. For broom finishes we use tooled joints; for exposed aggregate and stamped finishes we use saw cuts. We address frost heave and settlement through base preparation, control joints, and compaction.

Do you pour garage slabs and basement slabs?

Yes. Garage slabs use a 32 MPa mix with 10 mm rebar at 19-inch spacing, a minimum 4-inch thickness, and 1% slope toward the overhead door. If the floor is heated, we place styrofoam insulation under the slab. Basement slabs include 20 mm washed rock under-slab, a poly vapour barrier, and 10 mm rebar. We do not publish FF/FL numbers. Our site supervisor coordinates with other trades and plumbing penetrations.

Do you build retaining walls and extruded concrete curbing?

Yes. A typical retaining wall baseline is a 2-foot footing with an 8-inch wall. We can provide smooth, board-form, parge coat, architectural liners, or colour and stain; all common finishes are available. If a project requires engineering, we handle drawings and permits on request. We also install extruded concrete curbing and meet municipal requirements.

Do you provide concrete cutting, demolition, and removal?

Yes. We cut concrete for window openings, side-door entrances, slab cuts, and trench cutting. For demolition and removal, we use common methods including saw cutting and breaking, manage dust with water suppression, haul away debris with landfill charges included, and backfill and grade after demolition.

Do you seal concrete, and when should I seal?

We provide concrete sealing for stamped and exposed aggregate and can seal broom-finished concrete on request after cure. For stamped concrete we use EX25 medium gloss. For exposed aggregate we recommend a medium-gloss sealer that gives a shiny appearance and is less slippery, with an anti-slip additive available on request. We can return for sealing and reseal as needed based on wear and weather.

What happens if I need changes after you approve the quote?

Change orders require your approval in writing by text or email before we proceed. You can request changes by call, email, or text. We confirm any price or schedule impact in writing so you always know the plan.

Can I cancel a coloured or stamped order?

You can cancel coloured or stamped materials within 24 hours with no fee. If you have questions about later cancellations, contact us by call, text, or email so we can review options based on where your job is in the process.

Do you work year-round in Edmonton?

We are available January to December. The busy months are April to mid-November, and Alberta weather is often too cold for exterior work from mid-November to March, but we remain available. For stamped concrete we require a minimum overnight temperature of 9°C, and we schedule accordingly.

How do you protect property and manage safety?

We use PPE, caution tape, and poly sheeting to protect surfaces and surroundings. Before demolition we call Click Before You Dig and manage locates. We secure the work area and keep communication open so your family, staff, and neighbours know what to expect.

What do you need from me before work starts?

Please provide clear access to the work area and identify any private utilities on your property. Let us know about pets, gates, or restricted hours. Keep a contact number available for quick decisions. We handle utility locates and coordinate scheduling with you by call, text, or email.

How do you coordinate with other trades?

Our site supervisor coordinates timing with plumbers, electricians, and other trades. We confirm slab penetrations, elevations, and access ahead of the pour. We keep commitments in writing and update you if weather or site conditions affect the plan.

Can heavy vehicles park on a new residential driveway?

No. We set a 1% slope for drainage and design for residential use. Heavy truck parking is not allowed on residential driveways. From excavation to pour can be done in 1 day if weather is good, but please keep vehicles off for at least 2 weeks while the slab cures, weather dependent.

Will repair colour and texture match perfectly?

Colour and texture matching on repairs depends on the age of the concrete, the mix, and site conditions. We do our best to blend repairs, but exact matches are not always possible. We explain the likely outcome before we begin so expectations are clear.

Do you have insurance and WCB?

Yes. We carry CGL and WCB. We also obtain permits when required and follow municipal requirements, including for driveway approaches and curb cuts.

How quickly do you respond, and how do we start?

We respond within one business day. To start, call, text, or email us with your location in or near Argyll, Edmonton and a short description such as concrete driveway Edmonton, concrete patio Edmonton, concrete sidewalk Edmonton, or garage slab Edmonton. We will schedule a site visit if needed, provide a free written quote valid for 30 days, and plan a start date, usually within 2 to 3 weeks.
